Midface & Lip Lift
My Approach
True artistry in plastic surgery enhances character—it doesn’t erase it. While many modern facelift and neck lift techniques focus on pulling the perimeter of the face, genuine rejuvenation happens in the center, where expression lives. The eyes, mouth, and midface determine whether someone looks warm, youthful, and approachable—or tight and unnatural. After performing thousands of revision procedures, I’ve seen how excessive lateral or deep-plane lifting can sometimes create an “overdone” or avatar-like appearance. When key ligamentous structures are aggressively released, patients may lose the subtle expressions that make them look like themselves. My philosophy is different: restore structure and balance without distorting identity. This patient came to us seeking revision after a recent facelift elsewhere that failed to address her main concerns. Rather than repeating another lift, I focused on the central emotion zone of the face. Her procedure included an upper lip lift, corner mouth lift, nasal refinement, upper and lower eyelid surgery, fat transposition to smooth the lower lids, conservative fat grafting, and a vertical midface lift performed through the lower eyelid incision. Each step was precise and conservative, designed to refresh—not alter—her natural features.

The Healing Process
Because this approach avoids aggressive pulling or excessive dissection, recovery is typically smoother than a traditional revision facelift. Swelling and bruising are most noticeable during the first one to two weeks, especially around the eyes and lips. Early changes are visible even within days, with continued refinement over several months as tissues soften and settle. As inflammation resolves, expressions look increasingly natural and relaxed. By week three, most patients feel comfortable resuming normal activities. Facelift results settle within a few months, while the nose continues to refine for up to a year. Patients are advised to keep their head elevated, avoid strenuous activity, and follow detailed postoperative instructions, all of which help reduce swelling, protect delicate tissues, promote faster healing, and support longer-lasting, more predictable, aesthetically pleasing outcomes.
FAQs
A midface lift repositions descended cheek tissue vertically to restore youthful volume and support beneath the eyes. It improves the lid–cheek junction, softens under-eye hollows, and elevates the cheeks without the tight look of traditional pulling techniques.
A facelift primarily addresses the jawline and neck. A midface lift and eyelid procedures focus on the central face—the eyes and cheeks—where expression and aging are often most noticeable. Many patients benefit more from this targeted approach than from another full facelift.
Patients with tired-looking eyes, midface descent, hollowing, or downturned mouth corners—especially those who feel a facelift alone won’t address their concerns—are often excellent candidates.
Most patients return to work or normal social activities within 10–14 days. Swelling improves over several weeks, with final refinement continuing for a few months.
No. These techniques rely on repositioning and restoring volume rather than tightening. The goal is a refreshed, expressive look that preserves your natural identity.
Yes. They are often safely combined with skin resurfacing, fat grafting, or other facial procedures to comprehensively address aging while maintaining balance and harmony.
